offer. [Loại việc làm “giậm chân tại chỗ” cũng gọi là “treading water,” như
trong câu “Oh, my carefree dad was just treading water from paycheck to
paycheck until he retired last month”].
177 blind as a bat: mù nặng. Without her glasses, my sister is blind
as a bat. [Ví von này oan cho loài dơi, vì mắt chúng cũng tinh như mắt
người, mà lại còn được thiên nhiên thiết bị thêm cho một hệ thống định vị qua

us away! [out of this world = fantastic = fabulous].

để rớt mặt nạ. I almost blew my cover
at a secret meeting pretending to be an official participant.

troops from crossing the river. 2. phóng đại tầm quan trọng. Some people enjoy blowing up their
role in an organization.
